Did you enjoy the long weekend? Summer is officially here! We have a home improvement project going on at our house that I’d like to share with you as well as my plans to furnish.
While interior design is my profession, those design concepts still apply to outdoor spaces too.
Here's where the project started. Not much to look at, right?
We have a house that has a full walkout basement. We enjoy having a deck off of our main floor, but it’s time to create a more usable space below the deck as well as a walkway up to the driveway. Here’s how it started.
We decided we wanted a paver patio approximately 650 sq ft., fire pit and a paver walkway connecting the patio to the driveway so we don’t always have to walk on the grass. Here are some progress shots with the finished patio and walkway.
Notice the beam and deck posts closest to the house were removed as well giving us a little more usable space. That's part 2 of our backyard makeover, which I will be sharing next time.
Choosing a paver product that coordinated with our brick was a little tricky since there is a lot of product unavailable right now, but we found a good one.
The walkway also has lights installed that come on at night.
Lastly, we’ll install some additional landscaping such as shrub beds between the walkway and house and possibly around a part of the patio.
Obviously, we couldn't wait long enough to use the fire pit, so we brought down what chairs we had!
I plan to use Adirondack style chairs around the fire pit. Then I have plans for outdoor seating underneath the deck and possibly a couple of swinging chairs. See the floor plan and 3D design I have so far. This is what I use to design interiors too and is very useful for furniture layout.
The 3D plan is only meant for concept creation, meaning those aren't the actual items I'll be using. It just shows the idea and layout. I created this mood board and I'm loving the vibe. I'll link sources below in case you would like to shop it along with other patio favorites.
Thanks for stopping by today!
