A Timeline Breakdown

Before diving into the details, it’s important to point out a key aspect:
the project's scope.  The timeline can vary based on the project's size, for example, if it involves one or multiple rooms or if construction is required.

As I always mention to my clients, you should consider some buffer time in case your orders are delayed, you have issues with your contractor, or challenges come up in the project. This is completely normal and expected.

Despite any events, I always recommend
bringing an interior designer on board who will help guide you and give you confidence that your project is in the right hands. If you’re ready to enjoy the process of designing your home, inquire about our services here.

Now, let’s take a look at each of the phases of a design project and their estimated duration. We’ll go into detail about each one.

How Long Does An Interior Design Project Take? A Timeline Breakdown

1. Zoom Consultation (30 Minutes)

Our first step is a complimentary video call to get to know each other. This call is where we learn about your project and style and see if we're the right fit to bring your vision to life.

2. In-Home Consultation (Up to 2 Hours)

Next, we will visit your home to assess your space, discuss your needs, and take notes. This meeting will help us put together a proposal for your project goals.

3. Proposal (2-3 Days)

We’ll send you a proposal outlining the scope of work, estimated timeline, and approximate furnishings investment. This document will give you a clear idea of what to expect before we begin the design process.

4. Onboarding (1 Week)

Once you’re on board, we enter all your project details into our system, ensuring everything is organized and ready for our kick-off meeting.

5. Kick-Off Meeting (2-3 Hours)

At this meeting, we bring fabric samples, review your inspiration photos, discuss specific design details, and take measurements. This step sets the foundation for getting the project moving in the right direction.

6. Design Phase (4-8 Weeks or More)

Now, the magic happens! We create floor plans, elevations, and mood boards while sourcing materials, finishes, and furnishings. We collect samples and prepare everything for your big design presentation.

We take our time to ensure the design meets your expectations, goals, and vision.

7. Design Presentation (1-3 Hours)

This is where you get to see, touch, and experience your design come to life. We will walk you through every detail of the plan and gather your feedback. Personally, I find this one of the most exciting phases of the project! It’s like getting a glimpse of your home’s design before starting.

8. Revisions (1 Week, If Needed)

While our goal is to get everything perfect the first time, we offer a round of revisions if you want to change a few details before moving on with our design.

9. Project Management & Ordering (6-12 Weeks or More)

Now it’s time for work. We place orders, track shipments, and oversee any necessary construction. We also coordinate with contractors and keep you updated throughout the process.

During this time, we’re communicating to update you on your project status, explain what to expect, and give you space to answer any questions. It’s an exciting time as all the hard work is coming to life!

10. Install Day (4-6 Hours Over 1-2 Days)

It is the best day of the entire project! Our white-glove delivery service installs your furnishings while we style your space to perfection. You walk into a beautifully transformed home!

Seeing our clients' faces at the end of this day is worth all these weeks of hard work! Hearing expressions like: “I never thought this room would look beautiful,” or “Now I have everything I need in my kitchen;” makes it all worth it!

I’m honored to become a part of this special time in my client’s lives and new beginnings for their home!
