If you're looking to brighten up your home for the spring and summer, here are a few elements to consider:
1. Your design style: It is important to know that a design style doesn’t necessarily fit into a categorized box. For example, you could say you relate to a transitional style, but there are a thousand ways to do transitional. You might lean more towards a modern transitional, but you may want to include pieces from other design styles, and that's ok! This is why always considering a designer’s perspective is vital to help narrow your options.
2. Adding pops of color: I love how color can transform your room. In your spruce up, don’t forget to add accessories, furniture pieces or window treatments that include accents of color.
3. Don’t be afraid to mix materials: I’m a fan of mixing materials, from metals in my bathroom remodels to adding texture in my designs, such as woven or rattan to create a balanced design.
4. Keep it light and airy. These two components will make your room feel very refreshing. We recently updated a blog post sharing everything about these two characteristics, so get all the details here.
Now that you know the basics, let’s explore some of my spring and summer favorites for your space. I’m using affiliate links, so please

You can't go wrong with adding some flowers to your decor! They not only brighten up your space but also create a warm and inviting feel. Plus, it's a fun way to introduce pops of color while keeping things balanced with a simple, neutral vase.
In our
Modern Coastal Abode Project, we included neutral vases to contrast the navy background of the built-ins. We also added some greenery to give this design a spring and summer feel. The beauty is in the details, and it goes a long way!

Art is a must for every space in your home. Adding pops of color and texture through art pieces is a great way to incorporate life to your room and bring the warmth of the season indoor.
In this same project,
Modern Coastal Abode, we placed an art piece to help visually separate the dining and living areas. The color of the window treatments complements the artwork beautifully, creating a perfect balance with the neutral tones and making the most of the natural light in the space.
Here are some art pieces that catch my eye:
These decorative elements are great for adding functionality, storage, and organization while also looking aesthetic. They can really help you create a beautiful space and make your design stand out.
Take a look at our Refined Casual Living Project. These new custom builtins are a great place to display our client's personal items mixed in with some new finds.
What I love about Interior Design is that you
create something that speaks to you personally, your lifestyle, and your preferences. Like our Modern Coastal Abode project, we added custom pieces that reminded my clients of their passions.
We're loving these accessories. Use them on your bookshelves, coffee tables, fireplace mantels, etc.
As a modern transitional lover, my favorite color is blue, and I especially love blues, greens, and purples in all of their tones and shades. I also love to add little touches of warmth with yellows and pinks. My advice: create a home with colors YOU love, and it will never go out of style.
In the same project, Refined Casual Living, we included wallpaper to create texture for the breakfast nook. Then we added more color and texture in the pillows and bench cushion making a very cozy spot for food and family games.
In this same room, we included a functional storage piece and balanced it with a coastal style mirror and accent decor.
How cute do these elements look? It really makes this room the ideal place to hang out!
