This beautiful cabinet in our Revere Pewter and Dreamy Kitchen is a classic piece and can be used with any style. I love the wooded pattern and how it falls perfectly into that space.
A CONSOLE IN THE ENTRYWAY
A console table is perfect for your entryway. I like to add a mirror above it and place a decorative bowl to stash keys and other items that you might want to grab before going out the door.
DESIGNER TIP: mix the finishes when styling your console table. For example, if you have a console made of wood, use a mirror with a metal frame and a decorative ceramic bowl. Add a plant and some books and you’re set!
Look at how we made a statement in the entryway of our
Refined Casual Living Project. It has a little bit of everything without overcrowding the space.
The versatility of the console table is one of its biggest traits; look at how we used it here in this bedroom, and it still falls perfectly with the rest of the room's elements.
Often, I will slide a bench or 2 ottomans under the console table so you or your guest have a place to sit and put on shoes.
Some stairways just call out to a console table. I will set up a console with 2 lamps and a piece of art. You can’t go wrong with this setup. It’s beautiful and makes a statement. This way also works well in a dining room if you don’t need the storage of a buffet.
A CONSOLE TABLE IN THE LIVING ROOM
This media console is has tons of storage. It’s a great place to add a few seasonal items throughout the year. In a living room you can slide a couple of baskets under the console to corral some of the kids’ toys or books. Baskets are also great for holding blankets or extra pillows.
So, what do you think? Is a console table the most versatile furniture piece? How do you have it set up in your home? Do share!
If you need to shop for a console table, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite ones.
