One of the best things about working on a project is getting to know our client’s needs and wants and transforming them into beautiful, functional homes that reflect their lifestyle. And this project wasn't an exception; we planned and designed this remodel keeping in mind our client’s wish: “Make it more fun than fancy.”
So, if you love
remodeling and before-and-afters just as much as we do, you’re in for a treat. We’re about to show you how we transformed an outdated home to match our clients' vibrant lifestyles and love for entertaining family and friends.
This project has been one of my favorite ones, and here’s why: We revamped several rooms in this home,
allowing us to create a cohesive design throughout each room. This home had beautiful features but outdated elements that no longer fit this family’s lifestyle nor responded to their needs.
So, our goal was clear:
to create a vibrant home, updating its look and functionality for many years to come. Our clients specifically requested that we create a light environment and brighten their space to make it more inviting for entertaining their family and friends.
Our designed approach was thorough for each room, as we’re about to reveal. Still, we also considered the following action elements in our plan to create a cohesive look and elevate this home’s functionality:
Overall, remodeling this complete home was a great challenge and experience. Keep reading to find out more about the details in each room.
This room was in much need of a makeover:
the elements no longer served our client’s needs, the colors reminded us of the early 90s, some of the furniture was outdated, and the built-ins needed to be more functional.
Our design approach consisted of adding cabinetry and custom shelving, adding vertical shiplap to the fireplace wall, and moving the TV above the fireplace for a more modern look so everyone could view the TV better from the kitchen. We also designed a floating mantel to match the floating shelves.
Our client loved his red chair, but we knew it would stick out like a sore thumb if it stayed, so we reupholstered it in cognac leather. We also added new shelf accessories, giving the room an updated yet cozy feeling.
These changes for sure bring a breath of fresh air to this room! What’s your favorite thing? Comment below!
If you want to entertain your family and friends,
you need a kitchen that will achieve that goal! As you can see, all the finishes for this project were outdated, so we made some changes to bring light and a bright mood to this room.
We painted the cabinets and chose a go-to white paint color. Other things we added to our list was to change the hardware, the countertops, the backsplash, and the fixtures and source new kitchen bar stools.
Another addition ideal for entertaining was upgrading the breakfast nook to a warm and inviting spot for a meal or to play a game.

When you have a family, the laundry room needs to be functional and make life easier. For this project, we found out that the nook wasn't serving much purpose. It's also where our clients and their friends enter the house, so we wanted it to feel warm and welcoming.
We moved the freezer out to the garage, giving us space to include custom cabinetry and shelves built to use the space better. Our clients love this
warm and modern shade of green, which pairs well with the walnut wood features. So, we painted the cabinets, updated the floors and lighting, and gave this space a very fresh and up-to-date look.
It's one of their favorite spots in the house. We even moved a couple of pieces of their artwork here to help it feel inviting.
This room wasn’t serving its purpose or looks inside our client’s home. It just needed an upgrade.
We convinced our clients to go with wallpaper, and we love this textured paper. It adds a touch of sophistication to the whole room.
In addition, we switched out the vanity, light, and mirror and added some statement art pieces. Our clients love birds,
and we wanted this small space to say, "Wow" when you enter.
My favorite part is how the wallpaper really elevates this look to a whole new level.
Ultimately, we achieved our goal of creating a More Fun-than-Fancy home for many years to come. If your home feels outdated or no longer serves your purpose as a family, inquire about our services here, and let us help you transform it into a place you’ll absolutely love!
