While some of you might make a list of goals at the beginning of the year, I like to make a list of projects I want to tackle. Now, they may or may not happen this year, but at least I have something in mind I want to work towards for my home. After all, I want my home to work for me and my family. Here is my projects list and inspiration for the year 2020.
This is a start to planning an office for myself. I quickly threw together an idea. Currently, I’m loving navy, white, gray & gold. I’m so in love with the chandelier and this is one of my favorite rugs. I always start with a plan for any project! See this client office design board.
THE OFFICE
Currently our office is…meh! There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s not very functional for my business. My husband used it when he was running a business from home, but he doesn’t need it for that anymore. It’s just, NOT ME! You wouldn’t look at it and say “wow,” or “this looks like an interior designer’s office.” In fact, I usually work in my dining room.
Read more about the dining room here.
I haven’t come up with any definite plans for my office yet, but I have been saving images for inspiration when I’m ready. Of course I’ll need some type of shelving, and I like the color of these built-ins by Studio McGee. The light gray is very soothing.
I also like this one by House of Jade Interiors with built-ins and a window bench. I also really love those chairs!
THE LAUNDRY ROOM
My laundry room is a decent size, and yes, the clothes still get laundered, however it has so much more potential. The builder did install a lovely wire shelf on the wall for me, however I can barely reach it, and actually, I’m not a fan of wire shelves. I was being sarcastic when I said lovely.
In our last home, when we relocated our laundry room upstairs, I had our handy-man paint the new laundry room a rich taupe color and build some white cabinetry above the washer and dryer. It became one of my favorite rooms in the house! Since I can’t find a picture of that we’ll swoon over these laundry room photos.
This one by I Heart Organizing is so lovely and similar in layout to mine. I like the idea of having a cabinet over the laundry room sink as well as open shelving.
I’ve also thought about building a pedestal for the front loaders to sit on. (and when I say I, I mean someone else build it) I can totally see myself doing laundry in this one by Classy Clutter. Just look at the wallpaper and the rug!
PRE-TEEN BEDROOM
My youngest will be starting middle school next year, and therefore it’s time for a room makeover. Currently, she has purple walls and it’s very cute, but she’s growing up and it’s time her bedroom did too.
This teen bedroom makeover is still one of my favorites to date.
Those are 3 decent sized projects for 1 year. Fingers crossed! I’ll keep you posted on any progress that happens. What about you? Are you encouraged by my projects list and inspiration? Tell me about any home projects you have planned for the year! And if you have any definite do’s or don’ts for a laundry room makeover, I’d love to hear them!
