Do you find yourself sitting outdoors as the temperatures get warmer? I know I do. I love the idea of having an extension of my living room outside. If you are looking to do a small outdoor patio on a budget, then keep reading.
First, what makes a great outdoor space? Well, essentially the same kinds of things you would find inside your indoor living room. When I’m sitting outside on my deck, I like to feel cozy, comfy and warm.
Second, let’s think about how you want to use your outdoor space. Do you like to get your family together in the evenings and have a snack? Or maybe you like to have a few friends over for some after work conversation. I know I like to relax with my family and enjoy the surroundings.
Here is a list to help you get started on providing a comfortable outdoor seating area where you and a few people can gather together. I absolutely love to have a fire pit amid a seating area outside. It’s the perfect focal point whether you are roasting marshmallows or just creating ambiance.
All of these items are from Target, with the exception of the live plants. You can find them at Home Depot.
If you know me, you know I love to use soft colors, especially blues, however I love to use more bold colors outside. Green is a favorite to use in accessories because it stands out yet blends in with the surroundings.
Then I chose the pink flowers for the planters since they pop against the green and black furnishings.
Those planters are part of the Threshold Design by Studio McGee line. I love them for their natural appearance. Think about growing a small vegetable plant on your patio too.
Here’s another patio set up the same way except I switched out the pillow and rugs for a completely different look as well as a couple of the accessories. Black and white is so timeless.
I love the clean lines of this outdoor furniture line from Target. Check it out and tell me what you think! Remember to keep a blanket handy for those chilly nights when you’re outside.
Don’t forget string lights and lanterns! They add to the ambiance and personality of your outdoor space.
