Hi everyone! Are you ready to settle down into routine again? I know I am! My kids are headed back to school this week. How about yours? When I say back to school, I mean one day a week in school and then virtual the other days. Fall is just around the corner, which to me, means cozy! And if you are a working from home parent, you probably have a home office. Today, I’d like to share some warm and inviting transitional home office ideas.

So many beautiful home offices! Let’s break it down and talk about the elements that these spaces have to make them warm and inviting.
WARM AND INVITING TRANSITIONAL HOME OFFICE IDEAS – TIPS & SHOPPING
Rugs
Have a soft rug, especially if your home office has wood or tile flooring. You’ll want something soft underfoot. Bonus: it adds a layer of cozy texture and pattern.
Plants
Plants add texture and bring life into your space. Your home office isn’t a doctor’s office and therefore doesn’t need to feel sterile. If you have a hard time keeping them alive (like me!) feel free to use a faux plant. There are so many realistic looking ones now.
Sitting Area
Create a reading/relaxation space with a couple of chairs or a sofa. Sometimes you just need a place to step away from the computer. Maybe you need a comfortable place to read or perhaps you have clients that come see you. Add a throw and a pillow or two and you’ve created a cozy and comfortable sitting area.
Baskets
This is another great way to add texture. If you have a sitting area, having a basket nearby is perfect for holding some extra books or magazines for your guests or clients.
Art
Don’t forget your walls. Having nothing on the walls just screams sterile! Find a piece of art that you like. I personally like landscapes or abstracts for offices. Frame it, and put it on the wall! I promise it will totally transform your space.
Lighting
Have different layers of light in your office. What I mean is different sources of lighting. You probably have some type of ceiling light for general lighting. Add another layer by having a lamp. A pair of sconces on the wall is another great layer of light. Sometimes you need a little or a lot of light. It’s nice to have options.
Desk Chair
What type of chair do you use at your desk? You definitely want it to be comfortable. Here I’ve rounded up a few that fit my modern transitional style that are also cozy and comfortable.
Paint
If you’d like a warm and inviting home office, I suggest choosing your paint color wisely. First, start with a piece of art or your rug, and pull your color from that. I love a moody blue office or a charcoal gray. This will definitely amp up the cozy factor!
