When it comes to interior design, every detail matters, and window treatments are no exception. Just like custom furniture, window coverings will update the look of your home, increase natural lighting, complement your design style, and create a cozy mood. So, that’s why in this blog post, we’ll explore whether custom window treatments are worth the investment and why they can be a game-changer for your home.
Window treatments refer to any type of covering or decoration used on windows to enhance their appearance. They come in several forms and styles, including drapes, shutters, and shades. They can be customized to fit specific sizes, shapes, and styles, allowing you to achieve your desired mood and functionality. Plus, they contribute to the room’s aesthetic helping you create a cohesive look.
One of the most frequently asked questions by my clients is if window treatments are worth the investment, and the answer is yes because the possibilities are endless. Not only will you have an element that will suit your style, but an exact piece of what you need in that space, with fabric that responds to your lifestyle and needs.
There are many options for your windows, but my favorite ones to work with are:
In this project, we opted for drapes to add texture to the room. Not only are they visually appealing, but they help to create a cohesive look.

Now that we're all caught up in the concept of window treatments, let’s explore the reasons why you should add some to your space:
One of the most significant benefits of investing in custom window treatments is the ability to tailor them to your style and needs. Unlike store-bought options, custom treatments allow you to choose from an extensive range of fabrics, patterns, colors, and textures, ensuring a perfect match for your design style.
For this project, the living and dining rooms were open to each other, and we wanted to choose drapery fabrics that would complement each other. We chose a fun pattern with lots of colors for the dining room that reminded us of the ocean and the beach but then went with a simple white drape and added a navy trim in the living room. A perfect match!

When you invest in custom treatments, you’ll find better quality materials, they will be made with precise measurements, and more skilled techniques. All of this results in having a beautiful product that fits your room perfectly. Even though they may have a higher cost than retail window treatments, they can provide long-term cost savings because they’re made with the best materials that ensure durability and resistance to wear and tear.
In my home office, I combined a faux Roman shade that matched several elements in the room. I wanted something fun and playful to achieve maximum productivity.
Have you ever struggled to find the right-sized element for an oddly shaped or oversized window? Custom window treatments eliminate this problem. Since they are made to order to your specific measurements, custom treatments can fit your window, regardless of the size, shape, or height. This perfect fit provides a high-end look that enhances the aesthetics of your space.
For this recently completed project, we chose a white drapery panel that softens the room's look. Not only are they visually appealing but they give a break from all the harsh lines of the different textures in the furniture and decor pieces.
