Lately, my design mind has been in the powder room. You see, even though it's a small room in your home, it's one of the most used rooms by your family and visitors. Therefore, it should fulfill its functionality and respond to your family needs and lifestyle.
In today's blog post, we'll dive deep into the functionality and benefits of your powder room, and I'll share some ideas on how to add a special touch to your own.
The powder room is perhaps one of the most used rooms in your home. Despite its compact size, it needs to be highly functional, setting the tone and look for the rest of your home. You see, the great thing about this space is its size. Because it's small, it can be quicker to update. Just changing the lighting, hardware, or paint can significantly change your room's practicality and look.
Other things you should consider upgrading the look of your powder room include:
For these reasons, I was inspired to give you some ideas and share three designs to update your room easily.
Before moving forward, make sure to check out our Kitchen + Bath Remodel Roadmap, a complete guide to help you get started with your bathroom remodel. Get it here!
I love the idea of some type of wall treatment in a powder bath whether it’s tile, wainscoting or wallpaper. In these examples, I’m showing you tile. You can tile half a wall or an entire wall to make a statement.
In our More Fun Than Fancy Project, we added a fun touch to the powder room, adding texture through the wallpaper. We complement the look with art, which really created a WOW effect!
Another thing I love about this design is that the black and white is always a classic and will never go out of style. I brought in some pattern with the rug and texture with the accessories. I really, REALLY love this arched mirror. It’s simple yet makes a statement on its own.
Did you know it’s ok to mix metals? In these designs I’ve selected a different material for the mirror. As long as your materials are “speaking” to one another it works. Silver and gold work really well together as do black and gold or black and silver.
In the last design I choose a subway tile for the wall but turned it vertical. How’s that for a statement? I’m loving the warmth of the wood vanity and the colors in the rug. A colorful pattered rug is always a good idea.
Hint: if you need to pick a paint color, pick it out from your rug!
To finish off your powder room, make sure to add a plant and a basket of some kind for storage. Also, I love the look of sconces as well as they provide better lighting in the bathroom.
After this, I’m really looking to update my powder room. The great thing about these designs is that they could work well with a pedestal sink too.
Which of the three neutral powder room design ideas is your favorite? I’d love to know! Comment below with your favorite.
