If you’ve been following me for quite some time, you know that I love project reveals.
Seeing my client’s face when we show the final results is priceless! And now, the time has come to share another incredible transformation, which I named
Refined Casual Living because it’s all about a comfort and fresh
design style. So if you’re ready to get inspired, keep on reading! I’ll show you all the details, plus the exclusive before and afters you do not want to miss.
As with every project,
we started with a design consultation; that way, I got to know the space and my client’s lifestyle, vision, and inspiration.
Their goal was to create a relaxed and modern home that would generate a WOW factor with simplicity while being teenager and dog friendly. And since the project involved several rooms of the home, this gave us the perfect opportunity to unify the design style throughout the house while providing a solution for my client’s main pain points.
The entry sets the tone for the rest of the house.
The before entry didn’t look inviting for this project, so we made it more welcoming,
starting with the console table. It’s a functional piece and creates a simple statement for the space, yet is very charming. To create texture and contrast, we included a rattan basket, pillows, and faux plants that perfectly balance the piece. Lastly, we replaced the builder ceiling fixture with a modern pendant
to add that WOW factor.
What a before and after. We went from dull to delightful!

When I first entered the room, this space didn’t serve a purpose nor felt inviting; however, it had many opportunities to transform into a cozy place.
The solution was easy: update the space with color to provide contrast and transform it into a sitting lounge where my client could curl up in a chair and read or do puzzles at the coffee table.
I love how this room turned out! The beautiful striped rug ties everything together.
The hammered brass coffee table is one of my favorite pieces in the whole design.

A family room should balance comfort, practicality, and functionality. As a designer part of my job includes creating storage places to reduce clutter and promote organization. A great solution is built-ins; they enhance the room's focal point and give you a space to store all your books or board games when relaxing or entertaining.
Adding built-ins was the perfect solution for this Refined Casual Living Project
for the area next to the fireplace. We used all the homeowner’s accessories, photos, and some new pieces to style the built-in shelves.
Another thing to work on was the fireplace wall. It was too generic, very builder-grade, and lacked personality.
My solution was to add molding, so it looked like one with the built-in unit.
Since we were upgrading the fireplace, we moved the TV to the other wall and included
custom drapes that gave this room a different look!
But my favorite part was the custom-made furniture. Before,
the sectional was too big, and took up a lot of space. Now we included a performance fabric sofa that’s pet friendly and a leather ottoman to add contrast in this room. It was the ideal solution my client was looking for! Perfect for family gatherings and cozy afternoons.
By using new and custom-made pieces,
we were able to turn this family room into the perfect union of style and functionality!

Breakfast Room
The breakfast room had so much potential, mainly thanks to all the natural light pouring in. As you can see,
the before look lacked the cozy and inviting feel that my client wanted.
So our design included a custom built-in bench, cushions, and comfy pillows. This redesigned space can seat many people for a casual dinner party or game night.
We softened the windows by adding custom white roman shades that added texture and interest to the room. The wallpaper adds texture and interest yet makes a simple statement. We swapped out the client's light fixture for this modern one, and I love how it fits into the overall design.
Now my clients have a little piece of heaven to relax, get cozy and create unforgettable memories with their friends and family!
Since the pandemic,
having a place at home that you can call your own to work is so important; it helps improve your concentration and boost and accelerate your productivity.
As you can see, the home office needed some love.
My client loves Kate Spade, so the goal was to add black, white, gold, and some pink for a pop of color. We moved the large bookshelf toward the window to take advantage of that wall space and added artwork matching our selected color palette.
We also added a window treatment to soften the window.

The drop zone is all about function, but we wanted it to look pretty and welcoming too. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with clutter and are looking for ways to organize, built-ins are the ideal solution. For this project,
we just needed to tidy it up with baskets and add some personality to tie in with the rest of the home.
We tackled this problem by painting the built-in blue and contrasting it with stylish wallpaper. We increased the functionality of this zone by adding some baskets that not only would hide the mess but also add texture. Finally, we included fun accessories, including the rug and art piece, to make the area inviting and attractive. Now, my clients have an organized space that makes them feel relaxed and welcome!
I was so happy with the results of this project. We achieved our goal of creating a modern, inviting, and comfy look, especially hearing my client’s feedback when they said, “My house now feels like a home. I’m loving it!”.
